A lot of things have changed in the last couple of years in my life, and given the current demands at work, and the changes in my parents health, I will be stepping down as the president of EBTC. It has been an interesting two years, and as you may have guessed from the lack of columns the last few months, I have found making the time to write a full page of interesting things to read a hard task.
Being president has been a opportunity for me to learn new things, (including Robert's rules of Order) and to meet and work with a lot of wonderful people. An interest in cycling has also had the great side benefit of finding a group that believes that the social side of a ride is just as important as the kilometres ridden. This club is a great place to meet new people.
I have really enjoyed the wonderful group of people who have been a part of the executive over the last 2 years. Our club is very fortunate that a number of very skilled and talented people have stepped forward to give their time and talents to the club. A huge thank you to the folks who have been on the executive with me.
I would also extend and invitation to others to think about joining the executive. You do not need to be a long time member of the club to be on the executive, and you can likely find a post that interests you, or gives you a chance to learn a new skill.
Ernie Mah is also stepping down as Supplies and Equipment Coordinator. The good news is that we now have a storage locker for the club equipment, so having space to store the gear is no longer a requirement to take this position! This year has made 20 continuous years that Ernie has held a position on the EBTC executive. Ernie has been a great person to talk to when I need to know about previous history. His artistic talents have also given the club and TDA some wonderful unique jersey designs.
Ellen Ainsley is also stepping down as the Newsletter editor. She has those special set of eyes that make our newsletter a visual treat. If you have ever thought about learning some editing and layout skills, this might be the post for you. Contact Ellen if you would like to know more about what is involved.
Have a look at the executive positions in the newsletter -- see any you might be interested in please contact myself ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. I would like to give Chris Chapman and her family a big thank you for the great job they did in organizing the volunteer appreciation event. Chris is new to the club, so it certainly would not have been easy to organize an event that you had never attended before. Chris had sorted though many photos to have a visual reminder in order to put together a slide show
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday March 6. Please come and join us then. Hope to see you there!
